Family-friendly beaches on the Costa Brava

Near Platja d’Aro, you’ll find some of the best family beaches on the Costa Brava:

• Platja Gran de Platja d’Aro: The main beach of Platja d’Aro offers a wide sandy stretch where children can play in a supervised environment. It has all the necessary facilities for a family beach day: playgrounds, sunbed and umbrella hire, lifeguards, and is within walking distance, about 15 minutes from Hotel Planamar.
• Cala Rovira (Platja d’Aro): Just a 13-minute walk from Hotel Planamar, this beach is a bit quieter and naturally beautiful. Its golden sand and full facilities, including a bar area and children’s water platform, make it perfect for families. The calm waters make it safe for children to swim and play.
• Cala del Pi (Platja d’Aro): Smaller but stunning, this cove is ideal for snorkelling with older children. Easily accessible from central Platja d’Aro, it is usually less crowded, offering a peaceful and safe day out.
• Cala Sa Conca (S’Agaró): Only a 10-minute drive from Platja d’Aro, this calm cove is perfect for families. With a Blue Flag, lifeguards, and easy access, it’s a safe and comfortable option. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it connects to the coastal path, ideal for family walks.
• Platja de Sant Pol (Sant Feliu de Guíxols): One of the most recommended family beaches on the Costa Brava due to its protected bay shape that softens the waves. It has full facilities, beach bars, a lively promenade, shaded areas, and rental options for scooters and kayaks. Just 10 minutes by car from Hotel Planamar.
• Platja de Torre Valentina (Calonge): A little further, 15 minutes by car, this wide sandy beach offers plenty of space for play and is fully equipped with showers, toilets, beach bars, and lifeguards. Its promenade is perfect for evening strolls, and the shallow seabed is ideal for young children.
